BODEC, Helmond
BODEC is a food process technology and scale-up facility located at Food Tech Brainport in Helmond. It supports companies in developing, testing and scaling food-grade production processes, with expertise in bio processes, extraction, separation, drying technologies and side-stream valorisation.

Process & Engagement
BODEC works with start-ups, SMEs, larger food companies, Multi Nationals, technology providers and research organisations. Its laboratory, pilot plant and food-grade production facilities allow companies to move from initial testing to pilot-scale validation and small-scale production within one environment.
Success Story
Together with a Nordic company BODEC developed and tested an alternative process for valorisation of their side stream. Combining different technologies in its pilot facilities resulted in a solvent free process, lower production costs, higher output and improved product quality. Currently in production at Bodec.
Impact & Results
BODEC helps companies bridge the gap between laboratory research and industrial production. Pilot testing provides process data, larger test batches and insight into scale-up effects before major investments are made, reducing technical, financial risks and shorter time to market
Challenges & Lessons
Food processes often behave differently when moving from laboratory to industrial scale. BODEC demonstrates the value of flexible pilot infrastructure combined with practical process engineering, allowing companies to test and adapt processes before full-scale implementation.
Looking Ahead
BODEC continues to strengthen its capabilities in bio processes, extraction, separation, drying and side-stream valorisation, while connecting food companies, technology providers and research organisations within the Food Tech Brainport ecosystem.
Key Message
BODEC bridges food innovation and industrial production by combining process expertise, pilot facilities and food-grade certified production capabilities.
